Although we focus on recording and mixing, Audio Logic also offers mastering services for demo projects. Many clients don't fully understand the difference between mixing and mastering, so I will try to explain.
Mixing is the process in which all of the individually recorded tracks of music and voice are volume balanced, spatially placed, and sonically processed down to a stereo or surround format. This is when we decide on the loudness of the bass guitar or lead vocal, for instance.
In mastering, we take these mixes and put the final touches on them. This usually involves equalization and dynamics processing for a balanced, punchy, final product that competes with commercially released recordings. Song order, fades, and spacing between songs are also done during mastering.
For recordings bound for commercial release, we cooperate with a number of reliable mastering and duplication service providers we can refer you to.
